Outcome of Academy Consultation

The period of consultation closed on Monday 11 February and the full Governing Body met on Wednesday 13 February to consider the feedback from our stakeholders. The Governing Body voted unanimously to proceed to conversion to becoming a Church of England Academy. Having been given this mandate we will now work closely with the Department for Education, the Diocese and Local Authority with an intention to convert to an Academy in the summer term 2013.

Thank you for your continued support for the school as we seek to extend our already strong Christian ethos and pursue excellence in teaching and learning, both of which remain central to the vision of the school as we enter this new era of our development.

School Holiday Pattern 2013-2014

in July 2012 governors discussed the outcomes of the Nottingham City LA consultation with regard to the five term year. As the impact of any changes could not at that stage be effectively measured, together with the short time line to plan ahead, governors agreed then to maintain the traditional three-term year pattern until at least 2014/15. Next stop...Outstanding!

We were delighted to welcome a team of Ofsted inspectors to the school on 30-31 October as part of the Section 5 inspection programme. The inspection team observed a wide variety of lessons, analysed the progess of students and the outcomes of our exam results and indeed spoke to a large number of students about their views of the school. The views of parents and of Governors were also gathered as part of the inspection. Following this process, we are very pleased to report that the school has now been graded "Good" in every category of the new framework . This is testament to the excellent improvements that continue to be seen across all areas of the school as we continue our journey towards Outstanding in the next 2 years. Our students are making good progress across all key stages because of the consistently good teaching that they receive, and the excellent level of pastoral care and guidance that underpins the whole school Christian ethos.

Carol Fearria, Headteacher commented, "I am absolutely thrilled with this well deserved outcome which validated our own judgements and am so grateful to all the staff, students, parents and governors who have worked so hard through strong partnerships to secure this positive result. This is a strong Church school on a clear journey to become Outstanding, and this is a very notable and important stepping stone towards achieving that goal!"

More Exam Success for Emmanuel in 2012

Following excellent A2 results last week, where 35% of entries were at the top A*-B grades, GCSE results published today show again sustained improvement across a wide range of areas. Headline figures are strong, with 91% of students gaining 5 A*-C, and 57% achieving the gold standard including Maths and English. This compares once again favourably with our FFT (A) target, set at 52%. Average points score was also strong, at 477 (equating to more than 10 Grade Bs and compared to 424 FFT A target) and there were strong outcomes in the government's new focus on Levels of Progress, with Maths at 66% and English at 69%.

Particular congratulations must go to Alicia Goode (13 A*/A grades), Christabel Goode (13 A*/A grades), Joe Owen (11 A*/A grades), Ruben Virumbrales-Bell (10 A*/A grades), Jenny Regan (9 A*/A grades), Piotr Sowislok (7 A*/A grades), Jonny Atkins (8 A*/A grades) and Adam Bairstow (7 A*/A grades) who have performed at the highest level.

Carol Fearria, Headteacher commented, "Once again I am immensely proud of our students and their successes across all their exams. We continue to celebrate fantastic outcomes across a wide range of subjects, and we look forward to seeing these young people move into their A level studies with the greatest aspirations."
