The governing body has been working hard to further explore the details of being part of a multi-academy trust with Bluecoat Academies Trust and parents will have recently received consultation information about the proposal. The Trust has been renamed as The Archway Learning Trust and senior staff and governors from Emmanuel have been working closely with Bluecoat colleagues in the development of the Trust. We will report back on consultation responses next term.
In addition to this significant piece of work, governing body business has maintained its usual pace over recent months. This has included our regular monitoring and committee work. For example governors have undertaken monitoring work with staff responsible for; Maths, Science and History, safeguarding and staff recruitment, health and safety.
This term there has also been a follow up to the external review of governance which we commissioned in autumn 2015. We were keen to ensure we were implementing the recommendations from the earlier review and wanted to reflect on our work as the school heads into the next phase of its development. Governance was considered to still be strong, and was found to make a positive contribution to school life.
Finally, governors were able to celebrate with Key Stage 3 students and their families at the end of year celebration service and Mrs Prentice and Mrs Dunford represented the school and governing body at the summer celebrated hosted by the Lord Lieutenants, Sir John Peace, for organisations who have received his award for their commitment to voluntary service.
