Year 7 Work Showcased in John Lewis

March 20th 2017

Year 7 Textiles students are this year thinking about inclusive design, and their initial inspiration for this project came from the brief ‘Designing for a purpose’.

Students were asked to design and make a sensory wall hanging for a young child using the themes of ‘sea life’ and ‘the jungle’ to inspire their designs. They used a range of techniques such as fabric pens, tie dying, applique and various hand-stitching methods to create their pieces.

The students loved this project, and after their work has been displayed in the restaurant of the John Lewis store in Nottingham, we will be sending some to Dutch Komenda, our partner school in Ghana, for the young children there.
