Every school in the City of Nottingham is required to follow a set procedure in cases of suspected child abuse. The Principal is required to refer concerns to the Children’s Services Department for further investigation so that children at risk can be identified quickly. This procedure is intended to protect children from abuse. When a school refers a concern about a student to the Children Services Department, it is an entirely non-judgemental process. The role of the school is to request that further investigations take place in order to establish whether or not a child is at risk, not to investigate the matter. The school’s Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs Green, Deputy Principal. There are also 3 Achievement and Pastoral Managers who are trained DSLs; Mr Jackson, Mrs Morley and Mr Glover.
