School Report
The big day finally arrived! The Year 8 school report team spent the day at the North e-Learning Centre putting together the final touches of the school report that – as you know – they have been working on for the past few weeks. This included using advanced editing software, working the cameras and auto-cue devices, filming in the studios using a green screen and making important decisions when designing the title sequences, music and credits.

The Year 8 school reporters worked fantastically for the whole day – communicating with each other responsibly and independently taking the lead on each activity. Well done! Furthermore, the report could not have happened without the help of the team at the North e-learning Centre, so a special thank you to them as well.

And the moment you have all be waiting for….the report is finished and ready for you to view! Take a few minutes to watch our special features, which include the school’s project work in Ghana, the planned network of new tram lines in the city (including the impact on local residents) and an insight into issues surrounding adoption in the UK and beyond. You will not be disappointed!

We are pleased to announce that we are now linked up to the BBC website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/schoolreport/16756234.

As you can see, preparation is well under way – we have been learning effective news writing devices and presenting techniques, as well script writing on our main topic focus – ‘adoption’.

We are almost at the point where we can rehearse the various parts of our school report ready to go on camera and start editing with industry experts!

Interview Body Language
Rebekah and Grace consider the body language that is most appropriate for interviewing.
This month we have been exploring our chosen topic further. We have found that adoption is something relevant to all of us, as it affects people our age, older and younger.

We have been coming up with various ways to convey the subject to our many viewers, including practising our various roles and trying to cut down on any unnecessary parts in the script.

The necessity of checking our materials and correcting any mistakes has been of central importance to us to make sure everything is perfect!

As we started filming our various clips, the industry experts have been helping us make a few changes to our work, which will hopefully help improve and make the report as professional as possible! In the process, we have learnt that in the TV industry it is necessary to be flexible and open to adaptations
