Welcome to PHSE and Citizenship

Miss K Wiltshire Acting Director of Humanities and Social Science Learning Community kwiltshire@emmanuel.nottingham.sch.uk

At Key Stage 3, students learn about politics and power, the global village, crime and criminal justice, racism, discrimination and human rights in Citizenship. In PSHE we cover sex and relationships education, drugs and alcohol awareness, personal finance, personal safety, bullying and first aid. They learn to debate, take action, work well in groups, carry out effective research, give presentations, use advocacy skills, make informed choices and much, much more!

At Key Stage 4, we offer a range of qualifications which include GCSE Citizenship Studies (Short Course), where they get chance to take part in the Citizenship Dragon’s Den, a social enterprise project that involves making presentations to 4 powerful members of the community.

At Key Stage 5, we offer COPE Level 3 – The Certificate of Personal Effectiveness, where students develop 6 key skills: making oral presentations, research, working with others, improving their own learning, problem solving and discussion.

Enrichment Activities
To support the school enrichment programme at key stage 3 we offer Discovery Club and at key stage 4 we run a weekly Coursework Catch-up Club.
