Admissions Criteria
The Nottingham Emmanuel School stands as a beacon school regionally and nationally for distinctively Christian secondary education, providing the very best academic opportunities through excellent teaching and learning, working together to provide purposeful and holistic development of every student.
We have an inclusive admissions policy, welcoming differing proportions of families with a Christian faith, a world faith and with no faith to apply for a place.
We look forward to welcoming you to join a different kind of learning journey – one which combines the very best in academic aspiration with the very best in character and faith development. Families are advised that children are expected to participate in twice weekly Acts of Worship and to receive a full Religious Education.
Admissions
The closing date for all first admission applications is the 31st October each year.
If you have made an application for a Year 7 place in September 2026, notification of school allocation will be made by your home local authority on National Offer Day Monday 2nd March 2026.
Further information on applying to The Nottingham Emmanuel School and a timeline of the admissions arrangements for 2026-2027 is available below.
Please note the school has different admission numbers for other year groups which have been determined by the operational capacity of the Academy. This operational capacity is decided after taking into account the following:
- Class sizes, especially in option groups which are full and adding additional students would prejudice the provision of education for existing students.
- Adding additional students would require additional teaching hours which would mean recruiting new teachers, which has not been financially planned for in the current curriculum.
Year 7 – 180
Year 8 – 180
Year 9 – 180
Year 10 – 180
Year 11 – 180

- I did not get a place at NES and was offered a place at another school. Should I reject the offer if I plan to submit an appeal?
No. The academy and the local authority strongly recommend accepting the place offered, even if you are appealing. This ensures you will have a school place while the appeal process is ongoing. - I missed the deadline of the 31st October, Is it too late to apply for a place at the Academy?
Families who didn’t apply by the deadline can still apply for September 2026. They should contact their Local Authority to submit a Late Application and they will be added to the academy’s waiting list by the Local Authority.
