Dawn Bratby
I began playing the flute at the age of 12 and soon realised that I wanted, eventually to teach the instrument that I enjoyed playing so much so that others might appreciate it too.
When studying for my A’ levels I also took up the piano and clarinet/saxophone as well as studying for an LTCL diploma on the flute.
I studied for a BA (Hons) at Bretton Hall college in Yorkshire and started teaching straight after graduating.
In the 30 plus (!!) years since I have taught in many schools across Nottinghamshire/ Derbyshire and Lincolnshire as well as several Saturday morning and weekday evening music centres.
I have taught children and adults across all age ranges and abilities and I am always happy to meet new people and help them improve.
I also take several ensembles within the schools that I work in for which I source and arrange all repertoire myself.
I addition to my teaching work, I regularly play in show bands and orchestras in various venues, anything from 9 to 5 to Kinky Boots; Kiss me Kate and Footloose to name just a few from this year’s performances.
