Curriculum Intent GCSE Business (Enterprise and Marketing Level 1/Level 2):

Here at Emmanuel, our curriculum represents the diversity of our City and its’ students by developing them through the study of Business. We nurture students to become enterprising individuals with the ability to think commercially and creatively to demonstrate business acumen. Business studies at GCSE allows students to draw on their research, statistical evidence and real world case studies to make informed business decisions and solve business problems.

The qualification equips learners with the skills and confidence to explore how different business situations affect business decisions. For example, the implications of employment law on an employers need to provide safe working conditions for their staff. It is a well-rounded introduction to the subject. The qualification encourages our students to make informed choices about a wide range of further learning opportunities and career pathways within the field of business. The course teaches and develops life skills that enable them to become financially and commercially aware: sources of finance, costs, profit and loss.

We aim to inspire Students’ interests in and enthusiasm for their subject, including developing independent further study and careers opportunities associated with the subject. We want to stretch their aspirations and future contributions to the workplace, in its’ many forms.  We seek to offer a dignified curriculum: designed to promote independence in every learner, enabling him or her to reach their full potential, whilst preparing them for their future higher education and careers choices.
