Year 8 were really privileged this week in AOW to hear from former student Rebekah Harrison and her team from the Baptist Mission Action team of the exciting work that they have been doing for six months in Nepal. Rebekah says that it was a wonderful experience to return to Emmanuel and see her former teachers saying that entering the building was like coming home. Rebekah got her first taste for mission work abroad when she was in the Sixth Form at Emmanuel and went with a team to Sri Lanka and this in fact prompted her to seek out further service opportunities.
In the six months that Rebekah was in Nepal, her team worked with children in schools and play groups. She highlighted how the way that such small things that they did such as leading parachute games and teaching the hokey cokey for example brought such joy to the Nepalese children and felt truly blessed by the experience of serving others.
Rebekah gave a powerful message to the students that any one of them could go on and make a similar impact in the world either more locally or abroad and encouraged them to aspire to bless and serve others.
