Miss Carrick and Miss Cundy took a group of Year 10 and 11 students to the Poetry Live! Conference at the Royal Concert Hall; it was an opportunity for students to see the poets who they study for GCSE English Literature perform their poems and explain the inspirations behind them. Not only did students get to ask the poets questions but the final poet, John Agard, had all 1000 students present taking part in performance poetry with him. He used this activity in a powerful way to explore the ways in which society creates unnecessary conflicts and divisions within itself: one of the key themes of the poems we study.
