Record-breaking A Level results

There have been celebrations today at The Nottingham Emmanuel School as students arrived to collect their A Level results.

Despite the national dip in the number of top grades, students at The Nottingham Emmanuel School have again bucked the trend with students obtaining the highest number of A*-A and A*-B grades in the school’s history.

Such results included many excellent individual outcomes, with a record number of students going on to study at the country’s leading Russell Group universities. Tobias Rodel (A, A, A, B) will go onto study Physics at the University of Warwick, Henry Libor (A*, A, B) will study Mathematics at Durham University, Scarlet Wright (A*, A, B) will study Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, Cameron Darkin-Price (A*, A, B) will go onto University of Bath to study Mathematical Sciences, Samuel Richardson (A*, A, B) will go to the London School of Economics to study Financial Mathematics and Statistics.

Estelle Demafeliz said, “I’m going to Southampton University to study Zoology. Emmanuel feels like family for me, it has given me such a great network of support. I’ve had some exceptional teachers and have been supported throughout but also been given the chance to learn to be independent. It’s so satisfying today, seeing the results of all that hard work”.

Ben Vafaei, who is going to The University of Manchester to study Chemical Engineering, said “it’s not always been easy to keep up with the demands of A Levels, but the support of teachers and camaraderie of friends has made it possible”.

Stephy Shaju, who is going on to study Pharmacy at De Monfort University commented “I’m absolutely over the moon with my results. After initially studying AS Levels at another sixth form, I transferred to Emmanuel and it was absolutely the right decision. The support from all of my teachers and the sixth form team has been exceptional and has enabled me to realise my dream”.

Ms Rossin, parent of Huey Rossin-Coldwell said “When I asked Huey if he had any ‘favourite teachers’ that required a special mention today, the reply was “all of them”. He feels that they all helped support him throughout his time at Emmanuel and he would not have gotten through his A Levels without them. In particular, the passion and enthusiasm of the PE staff has developed his love for playing sport, which has led to him studying Sports and Exercise Science at Edinburgh University”.

Derek Hobbs, Principal, said “I’m delighted with this set of results. It’s a real privilege to play a part in the success of so many young people and now to see them progress to their chosen universities and courses. We look forward to welcoming a record number of students into Year 12, from both Emmanuel and other schools, for the new academic year that lies ahead”.
