Fifteen students from Year 10, Year 12 and Year 13 recently worked with the decorative textile artist Karen Rose. Karen’s artworks are visual transcriptions from the beauty that she sees in the wonder of the Universe, specialising in hand embroidery, dyed fabrics and collage.
Students completed a full day workshop to develop pieces for their GCSE and A level coursework. In the morning, they experimented with producing their own screen printing templates which they used to print on top of fabric. In the afternoon they enhanced their prices by working hand embroidery and collage in to their screen printed samples, with some beautiful artworks being created.
This is the second time Karen has visited Emmanuel and she commented that she is always impressed with the talent and creatively of our Textiles students.
