Berlin Trip 2019

A group of Year 11 Historians recently visited Berlin, a vibrant, cultural city with a rich history which the students explored during a range of activities. They visited the Bundestag Dome, the Holocaust Memorial, the remaining section of the Berlin Wall, Topography of Terror, the German History museum, the Hohenschönhausen Stasi Prison memorial and the Sachsenhausen concentration camp memorial. The students engaged with a range of historical sites and artefacts and developed a deeper understanding of the history of Germany, keenly focused on their GCSE content of Weimar and Nazi Germany, whilst also enjoying the experience of German culture and traditions in its capital city.

Abigail in Year 11 commented “The most poignant part of the trip was definitely our visit to Sachsenhausen concentration camp memorial. The experience was enlightening very for us as we are studying Nazi Germany. It also gave us perspective on the world today. Our tour guide was a historian whose a specialism was Sachsenhausen history, who we found really informative and thought-provoking.”
