History and Geography Trip to Lincoln

“On 16th November we went on a Geography and History trip with 80 other Year 7 students to Lincoln. The trip consisted of a wall walk around Lincoln castle, investigating medieval armour in the castle and exploring the Geography of Lincoln.

In the morning we took part in a castle wall walk where we were able to delve deeper in to what happened inside and outside of the castle and learn about Kings who have stayed here in the past. We also saw many of the castle features including the Keep, arrow slits and the grand draw bridge. On our visit to the armoury we were able to try on the medieval armour and look at replicas of the weaponry.

In the afternoon we ventured in to Lincoln town for our Geography fieldwork. We took a walk down Steep Hill, famously named after its incline, and completed a survey to show the difference between the shops on Steep Hill and the shops in the town centre. We found that the shops on Steep Hill were mostly independent whilst the shops in the town centre were mostly chain stores. We also used questionnaires to ask some of the town’s residents and visitors about their opinion of Lincoln.

We had a great day out in Lincoln. We learnt a lot of new Geography and History and would love to go again!”
