Silly Sock Day

On Friday 3 April, students, staff and families at Emmanuel decided to keep Autism Awareness Week on the agenda. We persevered with our planned event, ‘Silly Sock Day’, from the comfort of our homes, to raise awareness of the condition amongst staff and students.

Autism is no stranger to Emmanuel, and we are blessed with over 50 students with a diagnosis or traits of autism, who contribute a unique and important perspective to our school community, challenging social norms, and encouraging us to stay open minded about how we view education and wider life experiences.

On the last day of the Spring term, we took some time out to snuggle down in our silly socks, watch a couple of videos and read a bit of information on autism, helping us to grow our knowledge and understanding, and learn how we can better support each other in our community.

Thank you to everyone who got involved, and especially to those of you who were willing to share pictures of you and your families in your chosen hosiery!
