Royal Society of Chemistry’s Oympiad 2021

The Nottingham Emmanuel School are delighted to celebrate the success of three Y12 Chemistry students who took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Chemistry Olympiad 2021.

It is an annual competition for Y13 students (who are in their final year of studying A-level Chemistry). So for these Year 12 students to achieve Bronze and Silver certificates is phenomenal.

Dr Oates, who runs the annual competition at NES said that Hollie, Georgia & Nathan were a credit to the school & to the science department, particularly as they had to sit the competition over Teams – due to the lockdown. They have worked really hard to understand the style of the competition, and to develop their understanding.

The competition is run every year to identify a team of chemistry students to represent Great Britain in the International Chemistry Olympiad. So these students are in the top 1% of the country, to even achieve what they have.

“I am looking forward to the competition next year” said Dr Oates, “because these students will be leading the way, and we have others behind them. We have a strong science department, and this shows because we are the first choice for 6th form and A-levels”.
